Discover the Importance of Your Vehicle's Alternator

At our dealership, we want you to understand how your car works inside and out, so today we'll be discussing just how important your vehicle's alternator is to the performance of your vehicle. The battery is an important component because it provides electricity to your vehicle. However, the alternator makes the energy that feeds into the electrical system and charges your vehicle's battery, so essentially the alternator is the generator of your vehicle.

If the alternator on your vehicle is going bad, you may see an ALT or GEN light come on in your instrument panel or your lights may be dim. Strange noises from under the hood or a burnt rubber smell are also indicators. Alternators should be checked anywhere between 80,000 to 150,000 miles if no other signs of wear have manifested.
